EPUB ebook translation
What stops people reading a book in another language is rarely the hard words — it is the rhythm. Every lookup breaks the thread, and by chapter three you have forgotten chapter one. Translating the whole book first is a different experience: you read at your own pace.
Geyi takes a whole EPUB, parses it chapter by chapter, translates it and rebuilds a book you can drop straight into a reader. The table of contents, paragraph structure and images stay where they were.
How a whole book is billed
EPUB goes through the local parsing path: 8 credits a page on high precision, 2 on standard, where a page counts as 1,600 characters. A 200,000-character book works out at roughly 125 pages — about 1,000 credits on high precision, or about 250 on standard.
The estimate for your book appears after upload and before you submit. EPUB content density varies a lot — an image-heavy book and a prose-only one are not comparable — so the estimate is flagged as approximate, and the final charge follows the content the server actually parses.
What you can do with the translation
- Export EPUB: drop it into a reader, with the table of contents and chapter navigation intact.
- Export Word: for further editing or typesetting.
- Export PDF: for printing or archiving.
- Export Markdown: for folding the text into a notes library or writing setup.
- Bilingual output (optional): an extra PDF and Word pair with original and translation interleaved, which suits language learning and proofreading.
Consistency across a long book
Names, places and coined concepts that shift between chapters pull a reader straight out of the book. A personal glossary pins those terms so the whole book uses one set of renderings.
For very long books you can also split by volume or part and submit several files; each is billed separately and each result waits in History.
Frequently asked questions
What does a book cost?
At 1,600 characters a page, high precision is 8 credits a page and standard is 2. A 200,000-character book is roughly 125 pages — about 1,000 credits on high precision, or about 250 on standard. The estimate for your book is shown before you submit.
Is the result still an EPUB?
It can be. Choose EPUB at export and you get a book that opens straight in a reader; Word, PDF and Markdown are available at the same time.
Do the table of contents and chapter links survive?
Yes. EPUB is parsed chapter by chapter, and the chapter structure carries through to the translation.
Can DRM-protected ebooks be translated?
No. Files with digital rights management cannot be parsed — use files you are entitled to process and that carry no DRM.
Are illustrations lost?
No. Images stay in the document, in place.
How long does a book take?
It depends on length and the current queue; long books take a while. The job runs in the background, so you can close the page and collect the result from History.
Can I test a sample first?
Yes, and it is the cheapest way to decide. Run one chapter on standard to check the tone, then choose a tier for the whole book.
