Frequently asked questions

Which features need a paid plan?

The core tools are open to registered users. Bilingual output, glossaries, custom prompts, the high PPT tier, the Zotero plugin and OpenAPI access are gated by plan tier; the pricing page has the tier-by-tier comparison.

How is document extraction different from format conversion?

The line is whether the text is still locked inside an image. Scans, photos and old vertically-set books need extraction, because the characters have to be recognised first. Documents that are already digital, where text can be selected and only the extension is wrong, go through format conversion, which is faster. Both charge 4 credits a page, but they count pages differently: extraction counts the pages of the original, while conversion counts the text of the whole converted file, one page for every full 1,600 characters, with the remainder dropped and at least one page charged. A multi-page PDF averaging fewer than 1,600 characters a page therefore costs less to convert; a PDF averaging more than 1,600 characters a page, or with a single page, costs no less to convert.

Does extraction translate as well?

No. It extracts only, and whatever language goes in comes back out. Use file translation when you need a translation.
