Choosing a layout mode and precision tier
Each file carries three independent settings, each with two options, freely combined. Layout mode decides what the translation looks like and which formats it exports to; precision decides quality and credits; bilingual output decides whether a side-by-side version is produced alongside the translation.
Layout mode
Layout-preserving keeps every detail of the original typesetting — formulas, figures, headers and footers exactly as they were. It costs fewer credits and finishes sooner, and it suits cleanly typeset papers and books. It is PDF-in, PDF-out only.
AI reflow runs Geyi's own reflow engine, which reads scans, old archives and messily formatted documents, works out their structure and lays them out again, with a wide range of input and output formats.
Precision tier
High precision is the strongest engine, and the only one with the AI polishing and drift-checking pass: after the first translation it reworks wording and sentence order paragraph by paragraph and verifies nothing drifted from the original. It exists for publishing, academic work and formal delivery.
Standard reads, understands and produces in one pass — faster and cheaper, and right for skim-reading, drafts and bulk work. Layout handling is identical in both tiers.

Frequently asked questions
Some options are greyed out — is something broken?
No. Greyed out means that option does not apply to this file; most often, a non-PDF file cannot use layout-preserving mode.
Can I change the settings after submitting?
A job runs with the settings it was submitted with. To change them, submit the job again — it is billed again under the new settings.
Do the two precision tiers lay out differently?
No. They differ only in how far the prose itself is polished; layout handling is the same.
Why does layout-preserving cost fewer credits?
It reads the existing text layer directly instead of running character recognition, so it is billed at the local-path rate.
Does bilingual output replace the translation?
No — it is an extra file produced alongside the translation.
Can scans use layout-preserving mode?
No. A scan has no text layer to replace in place, so it needs AI reflow.
